Amelia and David Arnold Wedding Story
Saturday, August 6, 2016
I would have to say my walk down the aisle with my Dad and seeing David at the altar waiting for me was my favorite part of the entire day. It was surreal. I had dreamed about what that moment would feel like and it was better than anything I could have ever imagined. I felt happier than I'd ever been!
There are so many memorable moments, it's so hard to pick one! If there was one moment that I think everyone will always remember, I would have to say it was our Best Man's speech. David's brother Chad was our Best Man and the three of us are very close. When he gave his speech, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! He told the story of how he first met me, and how he remembered when David told him that he had proposed to me with a Hallmark card (because I LOVE any sort of greeting / hallmark cards, it's kind of my thing!) and Chad thought that was really odd, but then he understood how it meant something special to me. He then pulled out his own card that he had his entire family sign and said "I thought I'd start your marriage off with a card from the family" and he said "I'd say welcome to the family Amelia, but you've already been a part of it for a long time now!" It was an experience David and I truly cherish and will ALWAYS remember.
How We Met
We met through mutual friends at a New Year's Eve Party! We hit it off right away and our first date was a Minnesota Wild Hockey game.
I remember thinking to myself after our date "He will be an amazing husband and father one day." I just knew it! He proposed to me on that exact same date, 2 years later!
Planning for Our Day
Planning for our day was so much fun, and I wouldn't change a thing. Truly, if I could go back, I wouldn't do anything differently! Everything turned out perfect in our eyes. We were so blessed with a beautiful day, with no hiccups or issues. The process was definitely stressful at times and for me personally, it was difficult because I used to be an Event Planner, so I knew how to plan and how to prioritize and make sure things were getting done when they needed to be, but because it was my own personal wedding day, all the decisions were much harder to make. I felt like it was the one day that David and I got where everything would be how we wanted it to be, so I second guessed everything because I wanted the day to reflect us, and who we were.
Hint for Brides
Relax! Really try and enjoy every single moment from the start of your engagement to the final moments on your wedding day! That time in your life is so special and at the end of the day, the most important part is about you marrying your soul mate. Once our wedding day grew closer, that was my mindset. As long as I got to marry David, that's all that mattered to me.That's why everyone is here! Not for the décor, the flowers or the favors- it's about the Bride and Groom celebrating their love. It's so easy to get caught up in the details and to become stressed, but remember to take it all in and appreciate the experience.
