Bailey and Nicholas DeVetter Wedding Story
Wedding Date
Saturday, July 1, 2017
Nicholas and I always knew we wanted our wedding to be unique and that we wanted it to reflect who we are as a couple. I think this was especially evident in our ceremony, which was filled with fun and personal touches. My grandpa was the ring bearer, his cousins and my dad performed the music, his sister created the programs, my uncle was our officiant, and our longtime friend wrote and read a piece of prose. Even my ring, the music, and the church had special connections to our lives. All of this made for an incredibly personal and joy-filled day!
How We Met
Nicholas and I met at our first-year formal in college (at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University). I saw him on the dance floor and told my roommate Laura that I thought he was cute. She then kicked everyone aside so we could dance together, and we've been inseparable ever since!
Planning for Our Day
We made a lot of the major decisions (such as the wedding date, venue, etc.) fairly quickly after getting engaged. This took a huge weight off of our shoulders, and it made the rest of the planning relaxed and fun!
Hint for Brides
Be considerate of your guests! Having your wedding on a Friday or taking photos after the ceremony might make sense to you, but these are huge inconveniences for the people who are traveling (and likely spending a lot of money) to be there for you. Make sure the day's events reflect how grateful you are to have them there!
